Well, we’re right at the end of 2018 now and what a Year it has turned out to be. Usually around this time we would be expecting the Xmas Santa Rally to get underway and of course it might happen this Year as per normal but somehow I have my doubts. Judging by the weakness we had in the US on Friday and how the attempt to Rally in the Days before soon fizzled out, it strikes me we have a lot more pain to come yet (I will look at the Charts on this later in this Blog). It won’t surprise me at all if these unpleasant Markets carry on into 2019 and obviously with the utter Uncertainty of Brexit it will be very difficult for the UK Markets to perk up and the risk of more Profit Warnings across many Sectors is still very much with us. You might have heard but the News has been reporting poor Footfall in Retail this Weekend due to the atrocious weather with it down around 7% overall on what is usually the Peak Weekend before Xmas.

As always I am running behind tonight so I don’t expect this to be a hugely long Blog. I will cut to the chase and reiterate what I have been saying on Twitter for the last few Days that I am extremely concerned about the Markets and in particular the Technical Breakdown on the FTSE100 that I will come onto later. In addition to the very Bearish Technical Picture we have the Political Chaos around Brexit which seems to mean Uncertainty for a prolonged period, whatever outcome the Country eventually takes up. Then we have Economic Slowdown appearing in Europe, Japan, obviously the UK and even signs that the Boom in the US is running out of puff with disappointing Jobs Numbers on Friday the latest turn of the knife - and of course very pumped up markets after the longest Bull Run ever and things look very dodgy.
They say things always ‘Come in 3s’ and I have definitely had a dose of that this Week (fortunately it wasn‘t 3 Profit Warnings - I have had plenty of those this Year). The first one was on Tuesday when I was getting ready to head off to Chiswick for the Mello Event when unusually I just couldn’t find the Keys to my BMW Z3 anywhere. Of course in the back of my mind I knew exactly where they were but I did not want to face up to the reality - so I pointlessly looked in the same places over and over until I could dodge the inevitable no more. So I went out to my Car and there they were in the Driver’s Door and had been there all night !!
The Night before I had gone out to grab something from the Car and I got chatting to a crazy, drunk, Neighbour about some sort of silliness and I must have got distracted and in my confusion I no doubt headed back indoors with the Keys still in the Car - amazing the Car was still there !! |
